CHAPTER FOUR

In October of 2025, Republican Senator Phinneus Mace of New Hampshire decided that he wanted to re-open the Investigation into the Death of Senator Calvin Brookingham. Senator Mace was very disillusioned with the original Investigation. He thought the Wolcott Report left a lot to be desired and was essentially a joke. He also thought that the Wolcott Commission may have over-looked key evidence and key witnesses. Senator Mace did not like the quick manner in which the Wolcott Commission did its analysis of Brookingham’s death. Senator Mace knew he would face opposition in Congress due to the re-opening of the Investigation, but he also knew that it had to be done for the sake of confidence in government. The next day Senator Mace held a Press Conference to announce that he would demand a new Investigation into the Death of Senator Brookingham.

“Good morning everyone. I have decided after a short time of deliberation in thought, that I am going to ask the United States Senate to re-open the Investigation into the Death of Senator Calvin Brookingham. Although I believe that the Wolcott Commission did their best to properly investigate the death of Senator Brookingham. I still believe that there are too many unanswered questions in regards to his death. Supposed evidence does not add up and there are other odd and mysterious events that do not add up either. Recent public polling on the issue shows that the general public in the U.S. is starting to question the Wolcott Commission. Therefore, I would like to see a Senate Select Committee on the issue created as soon as possible. Are there any questions?” Senator Mace stated to the crowd of reporters.

“Senator Mace, do you believe that the U.S. Senate owes the Family of Senator Brookingham a better investigation of his suicide?” a reporter asked him.

“Yes. The investigation of his death should be commiserate with the quality that the Senator lived his life. The U.S. Government owes that to him and his family,” Senator Mace commented.

“Do you think that the Senator’s death was actually a suicide or possibly a homicide?” another reporter asked Senator Mace.

“If the committee is created it will go where ever the facts lead us. I just want to see a more thorough inquiry into the matter. If that happens I will be happy,” Senator Mace replied.

“Senator Mace, what do think of all the conspiracy theories regarding the supposed suicide of Senator Brookingham?” a liberal reporter asked Senator Mace.

“I do not think too much of them at this point. I just want the real facts to come out and that is it. If his death was caused by a plot it will come out in the Committee. I think his death may have really been a suicide, but I just want a very tight analysis of the matter for posterity’s sake,” Senator Mace replied with confidence.

“Senator, who do you think was behind the plot to kill Senator Brookingham?” a more radical reporter asked Senator Mace.

“Let’s not jump to any extreme conclusions, gentlemen.
